Hotel Simader is a family-run enterprise located in the famed spa and ski resort town of Bad Gastein, Austrian Alps. A short walking distance from both the main railway station and Stubnerkogel cable car, Simader provides that typical Austrian "Gemütlichkeit" (coziness) much loved by unpretentious travelers. More as an imposing large guest house than one of Belle Époque's grand hotels dominating the center of town, this building offers all it can to please its clients among winter sports lovers or summer hikers who are more interested in a handy location with good food and friendly service than modern luxury or wellness facilities within their hotel.

Ups & Downs - Hotel Simader

  • The hotel is excellently located for skiers, being only about a 5-8 minute walk to the Stubnerkogelbahn (the main ski lift) and the Felsentherme spa.
  • It is exceptional value for money, particularly the half-board option which includes a generous breakfast and a multi-course dinner.
  • Very personal and friendly atmosphere; owner and staff known to be attentive helpful with some local tips.
  • The Gastein Card is provided free to all guests. Apart from reductions in entrance fees to thermal baths and lifts, the card also covers local public transport.
  • A ski storage room with boot heaters that will ensure warm gear for the next morning has been provided.
  • × Call it charming or call it dated, but this place is fitted out with what can only be described as retro (1970s/80s style) pine wood furniture and carpets-lots and lots of both!
  • × More often than not, the Wi-Fi works better in the lobby or dining area upstairs than in any of the rooms on an upper floor.
  • × Bathrooms are small. They function well but provide no extra space such as one would find in a contemporary alpine resort.
